In their last years of Elementary School, students must meet ever more rigorous standards. Especially during challenging times like these, Brainology helps students overcome anxiety about taking on challenges. They learn about the neuroscience of malleable intelligence, and come to understand that they can grow their ability with effort and practice. Brainology Foundations - 6th Grade

The first year of middle school is a challenging transition, when many students start to doubt their abilities. Brainology Foundations is a fun, interactive program that helps students overcome anxiety about taking on challenges. It shows them how their brains – like their muscles – become stronger with effort and practice. A U.S. Dept. of Ed study showed that Brainology Foundations increased students’ growth mindset, challenge-seeking, and grades.

With the help of animated characters Chris, Dahlia, and Dr. Cerebrus, students learn about how the brain functions and learns, along with healthy habits, study techniques, self-regulation strategies, and other essential non-cognitive skills that help them to become effective learners. Then they deepen their knowledge and apply it to their own experience through downloadable lessons that can be accessed online in the classroom or remotely.

Brainology Bridge - 7th Grade

As adolescents progress through Middle School, they are growing and changing faster than ever! They become more curious and reflective about their own mindsets and experience new challenges both academically and socially. Brainology Bridge is a writing-based program that helps students increase self-awareness and self-mastery through reflection and writing activities.

Bridge reviews the neuroscience-based fundamentals of Foundations, explores the benefits of adopting a growth mindset, and teaches students how to use a growth mindset to get better at anything. Through interactive videos, students learn that challenges are a normal part of growing and learning. They learn strategies for overcoming fears to step outside of their comfort zone, as it applies to learning, relationships, and life. Writing prompts allow students to reflect on their own approach to learning and plan for challenges ahead.

Brainology Applied - 8th Grade

As they prepare for the transition to high school and new academic and social challenges, teenagers need support for self-directed goal-setting and learning more than ever. Brainology Applied fosters independent learners during this critical time.

Applied reviews the neuroscience behind how the brain becomes smarter, as well as brain-healthy habits, self-regulation strategies, and other essential SEL/non-cognitive skills. The program includes planning and goal-setting activities, reflection, self-monitoring, and assessment tools. Through videos, writing prompts, discussion boards, and assessments, students complete an online course in Moodle with teacher guidance. Students can become more effective learners, applying their growth mindset understanding and newly developed strategies to all areas of their lives.

MindsetMaker Professional Development

In uncertain times, one thing is clear: we all need a Growth Mindset to survive and thrive with the challenges ahead. Prepare your educators to navigate change and support your students with MindsetMaker, an online professional development course that teaches educators the foundations of Growth Mindset and Social and Emotional Learning in a flexible, engaging, completely online format.

Based on the ground-breaking research of psychologists Carol Dweck and Lisa Blackwell, MindsetMaker is an online course that will give educators a solid foundation in growth mindset theory and practice. It includes tools and resources that teachers can use in their classrooms to develop a growth mindset classroom culture.

The core training consists of five modules that include online assessments with feedback, videos, discussion forums, tools and activities that help staff teams and individual teachers implement mindset practice. Educators have access to the course for six months, but may have more time if needed.

Educators will learn about the impact of mindset on student motivation and achievement, how to recognize growth and fixed mindsets in their students, and how to increase student motivation through research-proven growth mindset practices. They discover how the brain learns and develops through instruction and practice, and how to make the most of the brain’s malleability through effective teaching and learning strategies. They also gain resources and tools for cultivating a classroom culture that supports a growth mindset in their students.
