Based on the ground-breaking research of Drs. Carol Dweck and Lisa Blackwell, the MindsetMaker™ is an online course that will give educators a solid foundation in growth mindset theory and practice. It includes tools and resources that teachers can use in their classrooms to develop a growth mindset classroom culture.

The core training is comprised of five modules that include online assessments with feedback, videos, discussion forums, tools and activities that help staff teams and individual teachers implement mindset practice.

Educators will learn about the impact of mindset on student motivation and achievement, how to recognize growth and fixed mindsets in their students, and how to increase student motivation through research-proven growth mindset practices. They discover how the brain learns and develops through instruction and practice, and how to make the most of the brain’s malleability through effective teaching and learning strategies. They also gain resources and tools for cultivating a classroom culture that supports a growth mindset in their students.

MindsetMaker is intended for the following:

  • Teachers
  • Instructional Coaches
  • Administrators
  • Guidance Counselors
  • School Psychologists
  • Tutors
  • Staff
  • Educators and Staff from Pre-K to Higher Ed

  • Mindsets & Motivation video series that teaches about the growth mindset and how to put it into practice. It includes interesting and informative videos with research foundations, interviews with students, and suggestions for practice.
  • Discussion boards with thought-provoking prompts that allow all participants to reflect and engage in dialogue with colleagues about growth mindset theory and practice.
  • Tools and activities for teachers to apply their new knowledge, instructional resources, and activities for students to use in the classroom.
  • Online assessments for educators to learn about their own mindset-related beliefs and practices, as well as school culture.
  • An implementation guide that will help a site leader plan and lead the professional development.
  • Implementation is flexible, but we recommend spending a minimum of 3 weeks engaging with the course.
  • The online components and follow up in-class activities take between 6-10 hours to complete.
  • MindsetMaker individual licenses can be used independently, within small groups, or with a whole school.
  • MindsetMaker can be implemented with or without Brainology®.
